Courts clamp down on 'game-playing' in drink drive cases

Lord Justice Irwin in R(Hassani) v. West London Magistrates' Court (April 2017) emphasised that "the criminal law is not a game to be played in the hope of a lucky outcome or... in an as involved a fashion as the paying client is able or prepared to afford". Courts and parties have been reminded that there must be stricter adherence to the Criminal Procedure Rules.
